Bachchan became the New Queen of Bollywood after her portrayal as the title character in Devdas 2002, one the most well-known Bollywood film. It also was the first Bollywood movie to show at Cannes Film Festival. Following that she received praise for her performance in Chokher Bali (2003) which is a dramatic thriller inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's novel. She was the first Indian to be on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival. Bachchan starred on the screen in Gurinder Chatha's Bride and Prejudice. It was a dance and musical version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The beauty and star power of Bachchan were brought to the premier major film in English. In 2006, she came back to Bollywood with her hit film Dhoom: 2 before releasing Provoked: The True Story (2006). Abhishek Bachchan got married to her in April of 2007. He's an Bollywood star and regular co-star.
